My first visit to Indonesia just finished few days back and finally I have got some time to open blog and to share my story about this trip with you. It was a wonderful experience from first day till last day during 2 weeks of adventures from eastern Java to Bali.
Airline: Garuda Indonesia. Destination: Surabaya. Plane: Airbus A330-200. Start of the day with a walk to the waterfall along a mountain river in the tropical forest. I should mention that Indonesia has really vibrant green color of the nature. By climbing the cliffs and walking under the rainlike streams I reached waterfall Madakaripura. On this route you will get wet and at same time amazed by rumbling water that surrounds you. It is the biggest waterfall in East Java. Water is falling from 200 meters high, down the cylindrical canyon. Lots of tourists try to visit this waterfall. Sunrise with a view over the Mount Bromo (on the left side with the fumes) in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Crossing a black sand desert, caused by volcanic activity. Mount Bromo is an active volcano that is soaring at 2329 meters (7,641 ft) above sea level. It’s not the highest peak of the massif, but is the most visited one. The path through the caldera that leads to the crest of the mountain is windy and very dusty. First thing you notice once at the top is a smell of spoiled eggs: it’s actually sulfur dioxide. Second thing is fumes coming out of the crater and third is the view. It is the first time in my life I got to visit a volcano! Another day, another sunrise, another location – welcome to Kawah ljen. 2 hours of hike till the rim of volcano under the sky full of stars. This volcano peaks at 2799 meters (9,183 ft) high. Fumes of the volcano are really stunning. Everyone was wearing gas masks in order to protect from the sulfur, which concentration here was higher than at Bromo. Kawah ljen has the world’s largest highly acidic crater lake. As well this volcano has blue flames, that can be observed at night, depending on visibility. Going downhill back to the gate with a view still dominating some dreamy clouds. On a ferry from the eastern Java to Bali. My adventures in Bali read in the next blog post.
